FUNDRAISER

Odessa Emergency Providers, a local nonprofit, is announcing a fund raising drive.

Beginning in the month of January, they will be accepting tax deductible donations to be used to send a group of paramedics from the Odessa
Fire Department and MCH Carestar Helicopter Service to the World Congress on Emergency Ultrasound in Brazil during the month of March.  The paramedics will be teaching emergency ultrasound techniques to EMS personnel and physicians from countries from around the world assembled at the congress.  The Odessa Fire Department paramedics began using ultrasound in 2000 and have been recognized as the first paramedics in the world to do so. Ultrasound is used to evaluate patients for such critical conditions as internal bleeding and cardiac arrest.  Ultrasound is also used to evaluate patients with more common conditions such as pregnancy. Odessa Fire department EMS and Carestar are part of a multicenter study on prehospital ultrasound use along with EMS systems in Minneapolis, Minnesota and   Manhattan in New York City.   If you wish to make a tax deductible donation or obtain more information please contact Kathleen or Sabrina at 432-333-9377,  810 N. Dixie #201 Odessa, TX 79761.
